The more I look at images of American society from say 40 plus years ago it just keeps confirming my feeling that we are headed in the wrong direction. When you look at how people dress and act today compared to years gone by you can’t think that we’re progressing. Christ, do most people make an effort to look presentable for any occasion? Unless you’re going to a funeral for someone who owned a t-shirt shop wearing a t-shirt is not proper attire at the service. And I have yet to find any place where Crocs fit in, or as I refer to them-migrant couture. They’re as O J would say ugly ass even at the beach. Hand in hand with the sloppy appearance comes the rude behaviour. Check it out, how many times have you seen vid of a-holes on planes losing their shit, and how are they dressed? Usually the ditchrat has their pajama top pulled over their head while being subdued. I’m not talking about a return to an era when men went to baseball games in suits and straw hats and women were in billowy dresses. However, the wheel has been jerked hard the other way and I think most of the blame being put on when casual Fridays became casual everyday. As much as I thought my Catholic grammar school education contained some harsh discipline I came to appreciate those guardrails through my adult life. Gang, we need discipline to avoid complete chaos. Leaving people to their own devices works only to a certain point and rules need to be in place. Yet even with rules people will push, when’s the last time you saw someone staying close to the speed limit? The Silent Generation seems to be the last generation that was “in it to win it” where mostly everyone was focused on making things better and helping each other. How can you be a mamaluke when you’re wearing a straw hat? Since the youngest person in that demo is 79 those people are dying by the thousands every day. Remember that old saying “the next time you’re in trouble and don’t like cops call a hippie”……wait, hippies dressed like hell 55 years ago. F it. Just keep sucking on your Stanley cup and manufacture some AI friends and wait for the Webb telescope to send back some answers.
