Let’s talk about numbers
August 31st, 2021Let’s talk about numbers. Sometimes when numbers get too high it can set off alarm bells such as when the temperature soars past 100 or when a remodeling project skyrockets from the original budget or when you go to war in Afghanistan. Oh let’s focus on that last item shall we? How the f..k do we spend 2 trillion, yes trillion and have nothing to show for it?? For twenty years we slogged away, and by “we” of course I mean our military but the we part is it was paid for by our tax dollars. Over the course of two decades didn’t anyone in charge stop and say “hey we’ve been here five years and have gone through 500 million so let’s step down and see if we’ve made any progress. No progress, certainly not 500 million worth, ok, let’s wrap it up.” Apparently that assessment didn’t happen at 500 million, 1 billion, 5 billion, 50 billion, 100 billion, 1 trillion, 1.5 trillion……2 trillion twenty years later we have a winner! And for that 2 trill we got all of about a week of training the Afghan army for all those years before it all went down the sh.tter anyway. I would imagine that some of that wasted money would’ve come in pretty handy in New Orleans to put in some bitchin’ levee system to prevent the flooding that happens every time there’s a category f..king 4 hurricane! Or some kind of power system that doesn’t go out every time there’s a category f..king 4 hurricane! And I’ll bet you could fix those things for a lot less than 2 trillion dollars! Of course there are countless other projects that money could’ve gone to in this country but the trill is gone, the 2 trill is gone I should say. Remember when Busgy Siegel went over budget by a few million with mob money building the Flamingo Casino? Well Bugsy ended up getting shot in the eye but at least there is Las Vegas to show for the effort. Now I don’t know if the mob still exists but if they do maybe they could do something nice with Afghanistan. Wink Wink.
