Perusing The Menu of Caca Sandwiches
December 29th, 2020Exactly one year ago at this time we had no idea of what was heading our way in a few weeks. Of all the shit sandwiches we’ve had to eat in our lifetime 2020 takes up a whole page on the menu of caca sandwiches. Unless you are Jeff Bezos this will go down as the worst year in our lifetime. However if you are in your 90’s this year may be just one of a few crapburgers that you’ve had to deal with because you had the Great Depression (not minor, not tepid, but Great Depression) to deal with and World War II. When you compare 9/11 with the pandemic 9/11 seemed like a walk in the park unless obviously you lost loved ones or were a firefighter at ground zero that suffered health problems over the years because of exposure to debris in the collapsed towers. But within days after the attacks people got back on planes as soon as flights resumed and businesses were only shut down for a day or two even though we didn’t have a complete handle on the whereabouts or intentions of future attackers. Yes restaurants and bars saw a dip in business initially but as the weeks rolled on the restaurants filled up again. It has been a year now since covid erupted in China. If someone had told you in March when the lockdown started here that it will be at least a YEAR before things return to something approaching normal you probably would’ve a) not believed it or b) flipped out, and yet here we are pretty much in the same atmosphere we were in in March but with a vaccine which is some ray of hope. If you’re only in your 20’s you now have on your turd sandwich menu….9/11……the financial collapse of 2008…..and the pandemic! I guess there’s some comfort if you are in your 20’s and look at someone in their 90’s and think of all the bullshit they’ve endured and they’re still standing, okay some are using walkers but still. And they didn’t have legalized pot and Amazon Echo in their 20’s. Woohoo!! See, I walked into a room knee deep in shit and said “there’s got to be a pony in here somewhere.”
