I finally saw the movie JOKER and I got a little kick out of the fact that the very first scene was Joaquin Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck applying his clown makeup surrounded by his clown colleagues within the confines of their booking agent’s office a company aptly called Haha’s. Or is it aptly titled? Anywho here’s the kick I got, they’re all listening to a talk radio station in the background. The guy on the air is outlining all of Gotham’s ills. Talk radio, the cause of and the solution to all of life’s problems. Well spoiler alert: Arthur is bullied one too many times and explodes which cascades into a cause for other down trodden people to don a clown mask and stir up some chaos. Now I’m going to jerk the wheel here and swerve into the Pope. Huh? Yes the Pope. Recently the Holy Father was was doing some hand shaking and waving to a crowd when a woman reached out and grabbed his arm. He quickly pushed her arm away and gave her the stink eye. He did apologize for his abruptness but I’m worried. The woman who grabbed his arm is Asian and let’s just say she’s Chinese. Only 2.3% of people in China are Christians so you would think the Pope would appreciate any Asians who have joined his tribe. I posted the vid of this dustup on my Facebook page and several comments leaned toward what the Pope should have really done to this woman. Stuff like “cold cocked her” to “wrestle her to the ground.” I can’t imagine the Pope going all medieval on someone but maybe he’s reaching his limit about what he can tolerate while out in public. Hey meeting people is a big part of his job and the public gets excited when they get close to him. I just don’t want Pope F to start going all Arthur F to where one day he walks out on his balcony to deliver a speech and down below the whole crowd is wearing clown masks. Strap in people 2020 is off to a cra cra start.
