CBS Unfriended God

May 26th, 2020

Hey Garrforce this Friday will mark the debut of my show going live on Facebook and YouTube. It will hit the net at 2p eastern 1p central and you will be able to participate as the show is airing. You can go to my Facebook page and join in. Oh and bring a cocktail, I know I will.

Even people who claim not to be superstitious will often avoid walking under a ladder, stepping on a crack on the sidewalk or steer clear of breaking a mirror. It’s just one of those things that rests in the back of our brain where we leave a little wiggle room, just in case. I readily admit that I follow certain guidelines in my noggin that are sacrosanct and will not change. I would never park in a handicap spot even if there were no other spots available. I would never goof around in a cemetery. If a crow walks in front of my car before I leave the driveway I will postpone that trip for a few hours. When I went to Hawaii I heard that there is a curse put on people who take black lava rocks from the islands and I would later hear of people who ignored those warnings took the rocks home and then experienced a run of bad luck to the point to where they would return the rocks. The whole reason I’m bringing this up is because CBS recently abruptly canceled a show on Sunday nights called God Friended Me after two seasons. The show followed 60 Minutes and I thought was a good palate cleanser after the punch in the face that 60 M frequently delivers currently during Covidmania. And I have been saying on my show for the past few weeks that what CBS did was bad karma. Canceling a show called God Friended Me during a pandemic seemed to be tempting fate. Well I’m not as dumb as I look because on May 19th the CBS Evening News was knocked off the air because of “technical issues.” OK. This is why you want a guy like me around in that when this decision was being made to cancel God I would’ve raised my hand and said “do we really want to cancel a show revolving around God during the biggest crisis ever on the planet, shouldn’t we just leave that alone for awhile, you know, just in case?” Well CBS, I’m sure you’re thinking this is just a one off with the technical difficulties but how do you know? Right now you don’t have God Friended Me, but you might have God F’d Me.

Gunga, galunga,
Garry
