Fixer Upper Manger

December 4th, 2019

Maybe you’ve seen the ABC TV show Light Fight where 4 entrants compete for a 50,000 dollar prize and a cheap ass trophy. I know the point of most game shows is to end up with just one winner but the aforementioned show disappoints tremendously with that outcome. All the people who enter have spent a lot of time, energy and money to erect their displays, some start in August or maybe even earlier. And the hosts never ask the 2 questions I’d be interested in knowing the answer to: “How much is your electric bill?” and “Where do you store all this stuff after you take it down?” Some displays contain 500,000 lights, others 1 million! No exaggeration. Now if you go to the trouble of putting up anything over say 1,000 lights you deserve a prize. So the fact that these contestants are putting up hundreds of thousands of lights and 75% of them get zip is actually depressing because they all do it with great passion and their whole goal is to make people happy during the holidays and that my friends deserves some cash. Now you know who else could use some cash? Churches. Many churches have seen dwindling attendance over the years so my proposal is for ABC to introduce an adjacent show to L F……The Nativity Scene Fight! Churches could go creative with their Nativity Scenes for cash. They could call it the Creche Crush, the Manger Mash Up, the Stable Slap Down, the Three Wisemen And A Baby. Maybe Chip and Joanna Gaines rehab a Nativity Scene in Waco, Tx. “Are you ready to see your new Creche with shiplap?” Or The Property Bros. could jump in and help a church..”would you believe your stable is now worth 750 thousand dollars?” And the beauty of the show would be to see how the host would have the guts to turn down a refurbed Jesus birthplace. C’mon ABC turn that Holstein in the stable into a cash cow.
